Worldwide Logistics Intelligence

Worldwide Port Holiday Calendar

International shipping rarely operates in isolation from national public holidays. Government offices, customs authorities, container terminals, warehouses, transport providers, and supporting logistics services may operate on reduced schedules or close entirely during certain holidays. This dashboard helps exporters, importers, freight forwarders, shipping planners, and logistics professionals identify public holidays affecting major commercial ports worldwide so shipments can be planned more efficiently.

Why Monitor Public Holidays at International Ports?

International cargo movements depend on much more than vessel schedules. Public holidays can affect customs clearance, trucking availability, warehouse staffing, documentation processing, inspection services, banking operations, and communications with local authorities. Even when marine terminals continue operating, supporting services may run on reduced hours, causing delays throughout the supply chain.

By understanding upcoming holidays before arranging shipments, businesses can better coordinate container loading, flexitank installation, documentation submission, export declarations, import clearance, inland transportation, and customer delivery schedules. Early planning helps minimise unnecessary storage charges, detention costs, missed vessel cut-offs, and scheduling conflicts.

Dashboard Features

  • Search public holidays by major international port.
  • View holidays by country and calendar year.
  • Compare holidays between two different ports.
  • Identify the next upcoming public holiday.
  • View countdown until the next holiday.
  • Review holiday names in both English and local language where available.

Port Infrastructure Information

Each supported port includes additional reference information to help logistics professionals quickly identify the correct shipping gateway. Alongside the holiday calendar, the dashboard displays the port’s UN/LOCODE, country, region, port authority, cargo specialisation, major terminals, geographic coordinates, official authority website, and direct Google Maps location. This allows users to access essential operational information from one central location without searching multiple websites.

Understanding Holiday Impacts

Public holidays do not necessarily mean that every container terminal closes. Many major international ports continue marine operations throughout the year, particularly those serving global container shipping networks. However, supporting services such as customs offices, government agencies, trucking companies, depots, warehouses, freight stations, inspection authorities, and commercial offices may operate on reduced schedules or suspend operations during public holidays.

For this reason, the dashboard should be used as an operational planning tool rather than a definitive port closure notice. Users are encouraged to verify terminal operating hours, customs availability, vessel schedules, and documentation requirements directly with the relevant shipping line, port authority, terminal operator, freight forwarder, customs broker, or local logistics representative before finalising shipment plans.

Data Source & Holiday Information

This dashboard combines public holiday information with LAF’s worldwide port reference database to support shipment planning and international logistics coordination. Holiday information is provided through the free Nager.Date Public Holiday API, while port reference informationβ€”including port authority details, UN/LOCODE, cargo specialisation, terminal information, geographic coordinates, official authority websites, and Google Maps routingβ€”is maintained by LAF for operational reference.

LAF supplements the original holiday data by providing additional logistics planning guidance, port intelligence, and operational reference information. These enhancements are independently prepared by LAF and are not supplied, reviewed, or endorsed by Nager.Date or any government authority.

Public holidays should be regarded as general planning information only. Actual port operations vary by country, terminal operator, cargo type, shipping line, and local authority requirements. Marine terminals may remain operational while customs offices, government agencies, warehouses, or inland transportation services operate on reduced schedules or close temporarily.

Before arranging international shipments, users should always confirm vessel schedules, terminal operating hours, customs availability, documentation requirements, gate operations, trucking schedules, and local logistics arrangements directly with the relevant port authority, terminal operator, shipping line, freight forwarder, customs broker, or local logistics representative.

This dashboard is intended solely as a logistics planning and operational reference tool and should not be interpreted as an official notice of port closure or government operating schedule.
