Understanding Session Consistency

Foreign exchange markets operate continuously throughout the day, and exchange rates may change between the morning, midday, and afternoon official publication sessions. Comparing these sessions provides useful historical insight into how currencies behaved during individual trading days without implying that future sessions will behave similarly.

This dashboard compares the official 09:00, 12:00, and 17:00 middle exchange-rate sessions published through Malaysia Open Data. For each monitored currency, it measures how frequently exchange rates moved in the same direction throughout the day, how often afternoon trading reversed the morning movement, and how consistent historical intraday behaviour has been over the available dataset.

What the Dashboard Measures

  • Frequency of upward movements between 09:00 and 12:00.
  • Frequency of downward movements between 09:00 and 12:00.
  • Frequency of unchanged sessions.
  • Movement consistency between 12:00 and 17:00.
  • Same-day reversal frequency.
  • Overall session consistency score.
  • Most consistent currencies.
  • Currencies showing the highest historical reversal frequency.
  • Regional comparison for ASEAN currencies.

Business Applications

Historical session behaviour may help finance teams, importers, exporters, freight forwarders, procurement departments, treasury personnel, and international trading businesses understand how exchange rates have behaved during different official publication sessions. The information may support internal reporting, operational reviews, payment planning discussions, and historical research.

The dashboard is intended solely for historical analysis and operational reference. Session consistency does not indicate that future trading sessions will behave in the same manner.

Data Notice

This dashboard uses official middle exchange-rate data published through Malaysia Open Data. Calculations compare exchange-rate movements between the 09:00, 12:00, and 17:00 sessions occurring on the same trading day. Results are provided for general business reference only and should not be interpreted as forecasts, trading signals, financial advice, or indicators of future currency movements. Commercial buying rates, selling rates, remittance rates, treasury rates, card rates, and money changer rates may differ from the published middle exchange rates.
