Understanding Malaysia Sector Trade Recovery Strength

Malaysia sector trade recovery strength focuses only on sectors that moved from negative monthly trade movement to positive monthly trade movement. In simple terms, this dashboard highlights sectors that were declining in the previous month but returned to growth in the latest month.

This dashboard is different from the turning point dashboard because it does not list every type of direction change. It focuses specifically on recovery cases, then ranks them by recovery strength. This makes it useful for visitors who want to quickly identify which sectors are rebounding most strongly.

Why Recovery Strength Matters

A recovery signal may suggest that shipment demand, sourcing activity, production movement, export orders, import demand, or cargo flow has improved after a weaker month. The stronger the recovery, the more useful it may be for short-term logistics observation.

For logistics providers, recovery strength can help identify sectors where container movement, warehousing needs, customs clearance, inland transport, flexitank-related opportunities, and shipment documentation may begin to pick up again.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does recovery strength mean?

Recovery strength means how strongly a sector moved from a previous monthly decline to a latest monthly increase.

How is this dashboard calculated?

It compares the latest month-on-month total trade movement with the previous month-on-month total trade movement, then includes only sectors that changed from decline to growth.

Is this the same as the turning point dashboard?

No. The turning point dashboard shows all direction categories. This dashboard focuses only on recovery cases.

How often is the data updated?

The official trade data is generally updated monthly. Recent figures may be provisional and subject to revision.

Data Notice: The figures displayed on this page are based on official Malaysia open data and are provided for general information and reference. Recovery strength is calculated from monthly SITC sector values and is not an official DOSM score.
