How to Read This Dashboard
Year-on-year inflation compares the selected month with the same month one year earlier. Month-on-month inflation compares the selected month with the previous month. Values are shown as percentages.
Understanding State Inflation Statistics
The Consumer Price Index measures changes in the cost of a representative basket of goods and services. Inflation is derived from CPI changes and shows how prices are changing over time.
This dashboard uses official DOSM state-level CPI inflation data. Users can compare inflation across Malaysian states and review different CPI divisions such as food, transport, housing, health, education and other main consumer spending groups.
Year-on-Year vs Month-on-Month Inflation
Year-on-Year Inflation
Year-on-year inflation compares prices with the same month one year earlier. It is useful for understanding the broader annual price trend.
Month-on-Month Inflation
Month-on-month inflation compares prices with the previous month. It is useful for detecting short-term price movements, although it can be more volatile than year-on-year inflation.
